This is a long story, especially for me to type, but this story you can't leave out all the little details. It was too funny! Weird, but too funny looking back on it!
Let me start off this story with the fact that Natalie had a good time!
So today Natalie had her second dentist appointment. She was actually asking about it when she woke up, wondering when we got to go to the dentist. She kept saying that she would sit very still, just like she did when we went to the beauty shop. So sweet!!!
Her appointment was at 11:40, so we went out early and got a few last minute Christmas things and then ran into Walgreen's to buy everything paper. For some reason, everything paper runs out a the exact same time at my house. Every time!! I am not sure how that works. Paper towels, toilet paper, napkins and Kleenex. Every time! That stuff fills up a shopping cart super fast. The lady at Walgreen's looked at me kind of weird.
Anyway, back to the story. I asked Natalie if she wanted to go to "Old McDonald's" (just McDonald's, but that is what she calls it) after her dentist appointment. I knew she was going to be good, but why not a little motivation. She said yes. So we get to the appointment and had to wait in the waiting room for almost 25 minutes. Not cool, I was just waiting for one of the girls to break down. Finally she calls us back and Natalie jumps right in the chair knowing exactly what to do. She laid back and opened her mouth wide open. It was hilarious. The nurse asked Natalie to give her her fingers so that she could show Natalie what the told felt like so that she wasn't surprised when they touched her teeth. Natalie said, yep I remember that. Silly girl! She got herself a new toothbrush and we even got one for Samantha, for her two tiny teeth.
So we get in the car and I told her she was great and we would go get Old McDonald's. I decided to take her to the McDonald's on Alameda because they have the play place there. I have never been inside, so why not, mama's special treat.
Hindsight is 20/20. there are lots of reasons why we should have just gotten it in the drive through, but I was thinking this was be a special outing for Natalie.
Should have been the first clue when I pulled in the parking space and this guys pulls in next to me so close that I had to squeeze Samantha and her car seat out while trying not to hit his car with my door. (that happens way more than you would think) I get Natalie out and we go to the counter to order her Chicken Nugget Happy Meal and I get a burger meal. The lady is totally not impressed with my children. Natalie running back and forth to the giant picture that shows you the happy meal toys and Samantha just looking like an angel, wondering when she is going to get her lunch. Well, not everyone thinks they are cute, but I am not sure why. (they totally are the cutest things ever)
We get our food, despite the giant pop spill on the floor, making our shoes stick and manage to get into the kids food area, with no help for the several construction worker guys staring an me trying to open the door with tray in one hand and car seat in the other. No really, I got it!! Should have just gotten the food to go at this point, but Natalie was so excited to play in the play place. She is scarfing down her chicken nuggets while I am trying to get all organized and clean the table off with baby wipes so I can fed Sam while eating my burger. Our background music while eating what this little boy (maybe 5 or 6 years old) groaning and grunting, very loudly, while playing in the climbing tubes. Natalie commented to me several times, what is he doing mom. His mom is asking him, "why are you still making that noise, I thought you were dead now." He replied, "mom I am a Zombie, I haven't died yet." She said "Oh, but I thought Zombies were dead." He said, "no mom, they are just diseased people walking around looking dead." Again, another reason to just leave!! Then one of the other children in there decides to open the "emergency exit" door which makes an alarm go off. The mother is so embarrassed. But it was loud. The McDonald's employees were roaming around saying what is that noise. Duh, hello it is your alarm, turn it off. It took them about 5 minutes to get it off. I told Natalie that we may just go home if that does turn off. Sam looked so puzzled by the noise. As soon as Natalie finished her last chicken nugget it turned off, so I let her play for a little bit. While I wiped everything of our down with more baby wipes. As she was playing another little boy came up to me (his parents were no where to be found) and told me that he was excited for Christmas and his present was the biggest under the tree. I asked him if he got his family presents since they got him such an awesome present and he said yes. "You know those small candies, called Runts. I got those for my moms boyfriend. I got him an ashtray too. And well he does drink beer, but I only saw him drink it once, but yea." That was it and he ran off. I wasn't quite sure what I felt at this point. Sad for the little boy with the smoker boyfriend as a male role model, but happy that he at least got him a present, because Christmas is about giving. But wow, to much information little guy. Thanks for that odd story. I was totally ready to go home! Sam finished her lunch and Natalie took her final turn down the slide and we left, this time someone held the door for me! Thank you grandpa with your two grand kids getting into the same situation that I was just in. Good luck.
Let me finish with the fact that Natalie had a blast. She got her Old McDonald's and some chicken nuggets and was able to play and go down the slide for a little bit! Wait to go mom! What a fun and interesting lunch!
